Blue-gray seas and cool overcast skies contrast with the warm earthtones of Bass Harbor's granite bedrock base and the deep organic tones of the evergreen forest separated by the fine white line of surf shattering against the rocks. Picturesque meeting places of land and sea are, of course, a specialty of the Pine Tree State.
