Lessons Learned: Color coordinate

Some compositions are based more on color than on structure. And although the gently retreating picket fence is a critical element in this picture, it's more because of its brilliant white color in contrast with all the yellow than its shape or location.

Fun photographic projects are often based on themes, like color. Try going on a shoot some day where you're not looking for a particular subject but for a color. Shoot red, for example. Traffic light. Apple. Rose. Redhead. Sunrise.

In this case, I was certainly shooting foliage, but this Southwest Harbor home offered an opportunity to focus on color with its bright yellow leaves and brilliant white picket fence against the dark tree trunks and dark green foliage background.

And my Lesson Learned was to stay attuned to the different means of creating an interesting picture by focusing on available colors.
