A 30-degree dawn put the frost on this ground cover and solitary frozen maple leaf. I've heard that without those frosty mornings, the leaves wouldn't be as brightly colored, but I have no idea whether that's science or an old wives' tale. In any case, the frost adds a surrealistic crispness to this little still life.
