Home again! I spent my last morning in Yosemite tidying up Charlie Cramer's cabin in preparation for the next Yosemite Renaissance Artist-in-Residence, who was due to arrive the next day. Once those chores were handled, I loaded the Pathfinder and headed south on Highway 41 toward Los Angeles. The freeway part of the journey was typically mundane, and I arrived back in Studio City in time to feed Annie (our nine-year-old Yellow Lab) and Sam (five-year-old Bouvier des Flandres) their evening meal. Amy and I cooked steaks on the barbeque for ourselves, my welcome-home dinner (and my first "real" meal after two weeks of my own one-course specials – microwaved soup or a simple sandwich).
It wasn't until I sat there – with my family, belly full and project over – that I realized I was utterly exhausted physically, intellectually and emotionally. It felt good knowing that I'd given 100% to this opportunity to photograph Yosemite, concentrating on simply being an artist. But I crashed early, and frankly it's taken this long (as I write this final journal entry, it's Thursday morning, May 19) to recharge my usually energetic personality enough to complete this easy task.
What's next? My show Digital Yosemite will appear in August at the Infusion Gallery, and I'll make every effort to create other worthwhile products from the images. I certainly have enough for several calendars, many posters, notecards...who knows? If you have any suggestions, please send email them to me here: Charlie@digitalphotography.tv
