Long day! It all began with a gasoline run up to Crane Flat and a stop at my little wildflower patch on the way back down Highway 120 to Yosemite Valley. (By the way, gas prices within easy driving distance of the valley range from $3.00 to $3.30 per gallon for the 87 octane regular...almost makes L.A. prices seem like a bargain!)

The blue lupine on the top right was among my subjects on that stop as was the more colorful little flower alongside the log at the bottom right.

Mike Neal returned for another day of retirement fun with his Nikon D-70s, so we had lunch and wandered around Yosemite Village shooting the breeze and checking out the new Visitor Center and the Ansel Adams Gallery during my lunch break.

All the rain, snow and snowmelt have created dozens of new and often spectacular waterfalls along both the north and south walls. The one at the top left is located on the south wall just west of Sentinel Rock.

The cascade at the bottom left comes from a little adventure I had climbing up Alder Creek. It seemed that the farther I went, the larger and more interesting the miniature waterfalls became.

In the center, late afternoon light illuminates El Capitan, which sported a cap of clouds today. This one was taken from outside the tunnel, up on the hillside on Highway 41 where there's a large scenic overlook.
