Thursday, February 24, 2005 Surprise! More Upper Yosemite Falls! Sorry. I'm overdoing it on my favorite waterfall. I tried to quit, but by the time the sun's first rays touched the top of Upper Yosemite Falls, I'd already shot three frames. I'm hopeless. For the first time, I waited for dawn at the eastern end of the valley, and with Half Dome backlit, Upper Yosemite Falls becomes the prime candidate. The picture on the right was taken just after dawn. Then, later in the morning, rainbows formed at the base, so I'm sharing one of them with you, too. You may have noticed the heavy frost along the edges of the waterfall above. It was a cold morning, so I headed off the the shady areas where the sun's rays hadn't yet melted the ice and frost. I found this ice picture along the Merced River in one of the popular photographer spots for lining up reflections on Three Brothers, El Capitan and Cathedral. Guess I must have been looking down instead... Here are a pair of tree compositions, and a sunset to wrap up the day. I'm running late tonight, so I'll stop writing and just leave you with the pictures. Tomorrow night is the opening for Yosemite Renaissance XX at the Yosemite Museum Gallery. I have a picture in the show, so I'll be there schmoozing instead of here writing and making pictures. I'm not sure how I'll fill that journal page, yet... perhaps with pictures from the show. We'll see. |
